Yummy Banana Split

Anyone have a spoon? I'm ready to eat this very tasty banana split. It's got vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream topped with pineapple, chocolate, and cherry syrup and whipped cream! You can find this amazing pattern at The Craft Frog "Banana Split." I altered a few things on my split. First for the whipped cream I ran the beginning tail around the stitches at the top to gather the cream and I very lightly stuffed the cream so it would hold it's shape. Second I made the syrup all one piece. You can find the instructions in the first comment. Third I'm not a fan of hot-gluing my ami's together, so I stitched it all to make it one piece. ~♥

Sweet and Bouncy Toadette

Beautiful, sweet Toadette is another character from the Mario Brothers series. I think she turned out absolutely adorable! By far one of my favorite amigurumis. You can find this and other wonderful Mario Bros patterns at Wolfdreamer "Toad and Toadette."

Mario Bros. Mushrooms

       I am starting off my Mario Brothers amigurumi kick with the power-up mushrooms. The red Super Mushroom will cause Mario to double in size and strength allowing him to smash through bricks and take an extra hit. The green 1-UP Mushroom will give Mario an Extra Life and are usually the rarest to be found. The yellow Mega Mushroom grants Mario a colossal form allowing him to stomp across the level and crush anything in his path. The purple Poison Mushroom can power down or defeat Mario if he touches it.
  
The pattern for these power-up mushrooms and all things Mario can be found at WolfDreamer "Mario Brothers Mushrooms." I altered the pattern slightly by repeating round 4 of the face two more times.

Eggy Chicks

A half-dozen rainbow chicks in matching eggshells. These baby chicks are busting out of their shells to make the world that much cuter. Easter may have come and gone, but summer is still bright enough to take on this cheery project. This pattern is created by a fellow crafter and is posted on her blog at RedlFlame "Baby Chicks in Eggshell."

Pattycake Crochet Puppet Doll

My mom told me stories about a little crocheted puppet named Patty. My granny made her for my first Christmas. In the evenings after Mom finished feeding me she would pass me over to Dad and he would keep me entertained by waving and dancing this little puppet in front of me.


My brother is expecting his first little baby this year and she is also the first grandchild in the family. Patty is long gone now and Dad is going to need a new Patty for him and his grand-daughter to play with. I searched everywhere and I could not find a puppet pattern like Patty. Not free, not for sale, not even decades old. I created Patty completely from memory with the crochet skills I have learned. And here she is! She turned out amazingly wonderful! I love her and I hope my new little niece will enjoy my Dad playing with her as much as I did. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Day Rainbow Mobile

This bright, sunny mobile will cheer up any room. Hang it over a baby's crib or on the wall of your child's room, or even hang it in your craft room! The easy-to-follow pattern can be found in the May/June 2010 issue of Crochet Today. I grabbed the pattern from the link last week as a free download, but I see now that they are no longer offering it as such. You can still buy the issue online from their website.

Handy Baskets

How messy is your craft area? I just can't seem to keep mine neat. I have nice storage in my closet, but I can't see what I've got when it's in there, so it usually ends up all over my floor! I also like to sit and crochet at my computer which leaves my desk completely covered in yarn. I have to dig and push stuff away to get to my keyboard. I went shopping determined to find something to solve my problem. What a find! These handy baskets are absolutely perfect for what I need. It keeps all of my loose yarn,completed projects, partial pieces, tools, and accessories all together and controlled leaving my desk and table tops mess-free. I even have one that holds my hooks, needle and marker, a bit of stuffing, and my current color so I can pick it up and move it wherever I need it. I picked up these baskets at my local Wal-Mart at $1.50 for a set of 2. That's a great price for these handy baskets!
